Haziel Olivera was born to Julio and Eunice Olivera in Santurce, Puerto Rico. The youngest of four children, brothers Julio and Haniel and sister, Liz Olivera. Haziel made the decision to dedicate his life to Christ at the age of 12. He was a typical boy- who enjoyed playing football with his brothers, attending church activities and singing as much as he could in church and at home.
During his High School years at South Lancaster Academy (SLA) in Massachusettes, Haziel was able to harness and hone his love of music and the power of music on the soul. While at SLA he participated in every “musical” activity possible- choir, “Praise Hymn” gospel group, and male barbershop quartet.
At the age of 15 Haziel, found his passion when he first experienced…recording. With his current Christian singing group “Celebration”. After recording their first album Celebration embarked on a month long singing tour in Brazil. On this tour Haziel realized how God could use his love and talent of music to bring people to Christ- It was then and there that Haziel dedicated his musical ministry to God.
In 1994, Haziel graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal performance with an emphasis on Sound Recording Technology from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Shortly after graduating from UMass–Lowell Haziel moved to Florida to begin his musical ministry, but there was one thing missing.
On December 29th 1996 Haziel married his childhood friend, and soul mate Lichelle M. Gonzalez, friends since they were children, Haziel knew that Lichelle also had a love for God that was immeasurable and she had a passion for singing as well. It was then that Haziel knew that God had answered one of his prayers. The two of them are members of the Florida Hospital SDA Church and sing with their praise team. Haziel and Lichelle also perform together in various local churches. Married now 13 years they have a son, Haziel Antonio, and a daughter Yazmín Iris.
In 2009 Haziel joined Calvary’s Light as their audio engineer, then later was asked to join them as a first tenor. In 2010, Calvary’s Light recorded their debut album “His Peace is Mine.” The Lord has truly blessed Haziel, his family and his music ministry as he shares Christ with Calvary’s Light.
